Hello, I’m Dr. Shauna Cantwell

Welcome to my new home on the web. Your horses and your pets are more than just animals. Whether they are part of the family or competitive athletes, they are always treasured. When they are in need of well-being, or care for illness or injury, you want a thorough and knowledgeable approach from someone who can offer more than the basics and thinks outside the conventional box. My mission is to create a new and better medicine through comprehensive care, research and education.

I have been a practicing veterinarian since 1989 in Canada, and broad experience has brought me to this point in my career. I started out as an equine/mixed animal practitioner, specifically based on my extensive equine competitive background. I then spent a number of years in small animal general and emergency medicine (all the while continuing to ride and show). My interest in detail and physiology brought me to specialize in Anesthesiology in 1998, with board-certification and a Masters degree concentrating on respiratory physiology. This phase of my development created a strong focus in education, respiratory and neurophysiology, and pain management. For more information, see my “about” page.
